LL BAR · THE TEMPLE OF DRAG
Since opening our doors in 1995 in the heart of Chueca, LL BAR has established itself as the undisputed epicentre of drag and Madrid's nightlife culture. An unrivalled cast of iconic drag queens and performers has graced our stage, leaving an indelible mark on the world of entertainment. Far from being a mere stepping stone, this corner of the city is widely regarded as the true university of drag: a temple of mastery where today's most celebrated queens have honed their craft, refining every gesture and every note beneath our spotlights. Through the years, the outside world has changed, urban trends have shifted, and fashions have come and gone; yet the essence of LL BAR remains steadfast, beating with the same poetic energy, a timeless beacon standing strong as time goes by without losing a single drop of its original magic.
Through the decades, LL BAR has stood strong as an unconditional haven amidst the ever-changing tides of Madrid life. Beyond the lights, the music, and the dazzle of our daily shows, this space has established itself as a true safe haven for entire generations: a place of complete togetherness that embraces freedom and leaves prejudice at the door. Here, every night is an opportunity to celebrate authenticity and mutual respect as a community. That is why the welcoming spirit we were born with is more alive than ever, reminding you that no matter who you are, LL is your bar.
THE HIGH HEELS RACE
Our history is deeply tied to the identity of Madrid, and there is no finer proof of this than the legendary High Heels Race. In 1999, LL BAR was responsible for organising the very first edition of this iconic event, which today has established itself as the grand kickoff for Madrid Pride festivities on the iconic Calle Pelayo. Year after year, this unmissable fixture fills the streets with colour, laughter, and a thrilling challenge atop platforms measuring at least 15 centimetres in height. What started as a bold initiative from our bar has grown into one of the most beloved, irreverent, and massively attended traditions of playful activism in the capital, reaffirming LL BAR's historic and fundamental role in the very soul of Chueca.
